Low-Frequency “Thresholdless” Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation with Almag03 for Stroke Rehabilitation: A Promising New Approach

Ischemic stroke is a leading cause of mortality and disability worldwide. Despite ongoing research in stroke rehabilitation, complete recovery is rare, and many stroke survivors require constant care.
The study’s results suggest that using this innovative rehabilitation technology can speed up the recovery process, increase independence in daily life, and improve the quality of life for stroke survivors.
The study included 93 patients in the acute phase of ischemic stroke, and the patients were divided into two groups. The leading group received low-frequency “thresholdless” transcranial magnetic stimulation in addition to standard treatment, while the control group received only standard treatment.
The assessment methods included a clinical and neurological examination, duplex scanning of brachiocephalic vessels, a mobility index, a functional independence measure, and a hospital anxiety and depression scale.
The results of the study indicate that the patients who received low-frequency “thresholdless” transcranial magnetic stimulation demonstrated significant improvements in various recovery measures compared to the control group.
These improvements include an increase in the linear velocity of blood flow in the internal carotid artery on the side of the lesion, improved mobility, functional independence, and muscle strength.
Additionally, the patients who received transcranial magnetic stimulation showed significantly reduced anxiety and depression symptoms compared to the control group.
